Trade-A-Plane Search Help

Trade-A-Plane Search is an easy way to quickly and effectively locate information on the Trade-A-Plane web site.

Trade-A-Plane Search Step-by-Step tutorial

Choosing Keywords

For best results, it's important to choose your keywords wisely. Keep these tips in mind:

(1) The Trade-A-Plane Search will look for results that contain ALL of the words in the search phrase. For example, this search:

will return results that contain both the word "radar" AND "altimeter" anywhere in the text.

(2) You can force the Trade-A-Plane Search to search for exact phrases by enclosing the search phrase in quotation marks. This search:

will only return results that contain the phrase "radar altimeter."

Automatic Exclusion of Common Words

Search ignores common words and characters such as "where" and "how" as well as certain single digits and single letters, because they tend to slow down your search without improving the results.

If a common word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a "+" sign in front of it. (Be sure to include a space before the "+" sign.)

Alternatively, you can also force a common word to be included by treating it as an exact phrase and enclosing it in quotation marks.

Capitalization

Searches are NOT case sensitive. All letters, regardless of how you type them, will be understood as lower case. For example, searches for "Garmin GPS", "GARMIN GPS", and "gArMiN gPs" will all return the same results.

Word Variations (Stemming)

Trade-A-Plane Search, when appropriate, will not only search for your keywords or phrases, but also for words that are similar to some or all of those terms (a process known as "stemming"). For example, if you search for "engine preheaters", the Search will also include "engine preheat" and other related variations of your terms.
