Remarks

This is a super nice, clean example of a Dakota! In case you don’t know, Piper didn’t make a lot of Dakota’s, and really nice ones are very hard to come by! You can load them full of people, bags, boat motors, BBQ, whatever you want to stuff in and go! Unlike the little Arrows and Warriors, the Dakota has a very powerful Lycoming O-540, 6 Cylinder, 235 Horsepower engine that’ll leave your buddies in their Cessna 182’s wondering where you went! As you can see, N571CR has a very complimentary, timeless paint scheme, and is in such condition, that if taken care, will last another 10-15 years! Same with the interior! And with 1583 hours on its Mena Aircraft Engines, custom overhaul, you’ve still got 417 hours until suggested TBO. And when it comes to the Lycoming O-540, many folks run them until 2500, even 3000 hours and beyond with no ill effects. (Take a look online at all the excellent material published by the notorious Mike Bush, and his take on the TBO myth). How about the Hartzell 3 blade prop? It’s in really nice condition, looks amazingly sexy just sitting still, and is so much smoother and neighbor friendly (quieter) than its two blade predecessor. 

It’s readily apparent that N571CR has spent its entire life in a dry environment, always hangared, and had good maintenance. It’s really nice and clean in the fuselage and wings, and with the exception of aileron skin replacement, has had no damage. The wing tips, stabilator tips, rudder and vertical stab fairings are all in excellent shape. And the landing gear fairings, a point of contention on many PA-28 series airplanes, are very, very, nice! The logbooks are in nice, tidy order, and all the Form 337’s and other documents filed with the FAA are all available and in excellent order.
