North American F-86 Aircraft Information
The North American F-86 Sabre, also known as the Sabrejet, is a transonic jet fighter aircraft. It was used mostly during the Korean War. Though it was outdate by the end of the 1905s, the Sabre was versatile enough that several military forces continued to use the aircraft into the 1990s and several countries extended the production.
The North American F-86 was developed to both a fighter-bomber and a fighter interceptor to meet the US Army Air Forces requirements for a single-seat, medium-range, high-altitude escort/fighter bomber. Many models flown by different pilots have broken world speed records and the sound barrier.
Variations of the aircraft are the XF-86, YF-86A, F-86A, DF-86A, RF-86A, F-86B, F-86C, YF-86D, F-86D, F-86E, F-86E (M), QF-86E, F-86F, F-86F-2, QF-86F, RF-86F, TF-86F, YF-86H, F-86H, QF-86H, F-86J, Sabre Mk1, Sabre Mk2, Sabre Mk3, Sabre Mk4, Sabre Mk5, and the Sabre Mk6
