Detailed Description

Low Time, Factory New 180HP Engine. A Pride-of-Ownership aircraft that is a 1960s RestoMod for the sky! Beautiful, Hand-Painted Panel with the latest Garmin navigator. Take your friends and family anywhere in this "no excuses" aircraft. STEC Autopilot equipped!

Avionics / Equipment

STEC 20 Autopilot coupled to Aspen for GPS Steering.
Fresh, custom panel installed in 2021! Hand painted by up-and-coming local artist! Yoke converted to "Y" style by STC. Aspen EFD 1000 Pro, new Garmin GPS 175, GNC 255A, PMA 8000B, EDM-830, GTX 330/GDL88 ADS-B, Sirrus XM tied to Aspen (subscription required). Vertical Card Compass. Yolk mounted PTT and A/P Disconnect switches. USB Charging Port. Bose/LEMO headphone/power jacks at all four positions. Aspen connected to XM receiver gives access to the full range of XM WX Satellite Weather aviation products-including NEXRAD radar graphics, IR satellite cloud cover at a range of altitudes, winds aloft graphics, METARs, TAFs, and more.

Airframe

Straight and solid airframe. Only incident was 60 years ago (wing damage and wing was replaced). No corrosion. RH wing spar had a spot of corrosion repaired with Cessna oversight (see photos). Appears was due to paint remover drip. Remainder of spar was clean. Both fuel tanks cleaned and sealed in 2021. Aircraft has a "year long annual" done during COVID, and everything was exposed for inspection.

Remarks

A 1960s Hot Rod for the sky! This pride of ownership aircraft is fast, light and modern with 1960s appeal. Everyone comments on how good looking she is, and how quiet she is. Being the last year before the rear window slowed the 172 down, and with a Air Plains 180HP Lycoming, she cruises fast, or leaned out with the EDM-830 engine monitor, she will burn 5.5GPH at 115kts. Build with 1" aircraft insulation in the roof, and sound absorbing padding under the carpet, she is quieter than my Cirrus.
The only real blemish is the dipstick access that was improperly painted when the engine was converted before I purchased her (see photos). Front wheel pant has minor damage on bottom. I can have repair done, and paint upper cowling, if desired.
Currently in hangar having 50-hour inspection/oil change. All pics in hangar are from today. Pics on ramp are older to show wheel pants.
