Developed from the Diamond DA20 series, the Diamond DA40 series was introduced to the market in 1997 as a {light sport aircraft}. The DA40 XLS is a deluxe model that was released to the series in 2007. The new features on the aircraft include a Garmin G1000 cockpit, a Powerflow exhaust, and a TAS traffic alert system.
