Grumman G164A AG CAT Aircraft Information

The Grumman G-164 Ag Cat is an agricultural, single-engine biplane that was the first aircraft specifically designed for agricultural aviation by a major aircraft company. The empty weight of the aircraft is 3,150 lbs (1,429 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 7,020 lbs (3,184 kg). The cruise speed is 113 kts (130 mph, 209 km/h), the stall speed is 56 kts (64 mph, 103 km/h) and the maximum speed is 136 kts (157 mph, 252 km/h). The Ag Cat uses one {Pratt & Whitney} PT6A-34AG turboprop engine.

The main design of the Grumman G-164 airframe includes several safety innovations: air conditioning, a fuselage designed to progressively collapse in the event of an accident, and a pressurized cockpit to keep out pesticides. The initial and basic model, Ag Cat, is certified to fly with four different engines, a Continental radial engine, a Gulf Coast radial engine, a Jacobs L-4M or L-4MB engine, or a Jacobs R-755 engine.
