Complete Garmin Avionics Upgrade in 2023. G3X 10.6, G5 standby, GTN 750xi, GNC 255, GFC500, GTX345, Garmin remote audio panel and intercom system (4pl), custom panel, LED upgrades on most lights (pulse capability added to landing and recogs). Garmin Engine Information System.
This is not a hodge podge system like many ads that state recent avionics. The Garmin system is fully integrated and makes instrument flying a breeze. From ILS to LPV, it performs fully coupled approaches flawlessly, sequences the missed, and makes holds a snap. Mode annunciation is reflected in both the G3 and G5 making verification part of the normal scan.

Airframe
Low TT, no known corrosion, no known damage, all logs. The airframe is in very good condition. A ding on the right leading edge and some rash on the tail trim cover. Paint is rated in fair to good condition. Burgundy, gold, on a white base.
This 205 has the GW increase to 2900 pounds leaving a useful load of more than 1000 pounds.
Engines / Mods / Prop
Lycoming IO360 rated at 200 HP. Overhauled by Lycoming dealer Triad Aviation in 11/2022.
New exhaust, sky tech starter, alternator, mount overhaul, prop governor, cables, baffling, etc. 51K.
Interior / Exterior
Original burgundy, fabric interior rated in good condition.
Remarks
This plane was originally listed in Controller for 250K. No interest. The last few days of the ad, I dropped the price to 230K and had some interest.
One caller struck me as a true prospect, but felt the price was high. As I had examined the market, I asked him to provide the specific tail numbers and if they were indeed comparable and lower priced, adjust mine accordingly. The two aircraft he provided were an early model 201 and 231.
That's when I realized some people may not know what a 205 is and why it is historically one of the most sought after models.
Mooney 205s incorporate the speed mods (single piece belly, both gear doors, infinitely adjustable cowl flaps, ram air (personally don't use), etc.), 28v electrical system, split rears (removable by owner), oval windows, higher gear speeds, higher flaps speeds, and perhaps other improvements I'm not recalling only comparable to the later Mooney MSE. They are far superior to the earlier 201s.
Comparing it to a 231/252 is an apple/orange thing as well although the 252 compares more favorably as far as the electrical and aerodynamic/design improvements (based on memory and I'm getting old). That said, the GB engine is notoriously problematic. The LB engine is improved, but still needs to be intercooled if you want added speed at altitude on warm days. The MB engine is much improved as it comes intercooled and can deliver those faster speeds at altitude. That said, the typical owner replaces cylinders at least once between overhauls, the TBO is much less, and the overhaul cost and periodic maintenance are much more. My experience with IO360 is they go beyond TBO and have no cylinder issues.
As for comparing it to Ovations... Despite the huge difference in HP, there is very little difference in TO distance and cruise speed; however, massive difference in operating costs (fuel, maintenance, reserves, etc.).
Between the engine, avionics, and acquisition costs; I have 250K in this plane and AOPA's assured partners have insured for that amount without issue.
It is a good value at 230K, come and get it. If you need help with finance and have excellent credit and a better than 50% deposit, I may consider owner finance at 6%.
I believe in using a service like Aerospace Reports to protect both parties' interests and will split the cost.
