Piper Arrow Series Aircraft Information
The Piper Arrow is a member of the Piper Cherokee family of light aircraft designed for air taxi, flight training, and personal use and is built by Piper Aircraft. The Arrows are all-metal, unpressurized, single-engine, piston-powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. The aircraft has a single door on the co-pilot side, which is entered by stepping on the wing.
The Piper Arrow was introduced in 1967. The original Arrow featured a constant-speed propeller, retractable landing gear, and was powered by a 180 hp engine. When the Arrow was introduced, Piper removed the Piper Cherokee 150 and Piper Cherokee 140/160 from production. In 1972 the Arrow II came out with a five-inch fuselage stretch to increase legroom for the rear seat passengers. The Arrow III was introduced in 1977 and featured a semi-tapered wing, longer stabilator, and larger fuel tanks. The first turbocharged Piper Arrow was also introduced in 1977. When the Arrow IV was released in 1979, the aircraft featured a "T" tail that resembled the other aircraft in the Piper line at the time.
The capacity of the Piper Arrow is one crew member and three passengers. Variant models of the Arrow include the PA-28R-180 Piper Arrow model, PA-28R-200 Arrow, PA-28R-200 Piper Arrow II, PA-28R-201 Piper Arrow III, PA-28R-201T Piper Turbo Arrow III, PA-28RT-201 Piper Arrow IV, and PA-28RT-201T Piper Turbo Arrow IV. All variants of the Piper Arrow have retractable landing gear.
The PA-28R-180 Arrow has a Lycoming IO-360-B1E engine of 180 hp and a gross weight of 2500 lb (1134 kg). The PA-28R-200 Arrow has a Lycoming IO-360-C1C engine of 200 hp and a gross weight of 2600 lb (1179 kg). PA-28R-200 Arrow II has a Lycoming IO-360C1C or C1C6 engine of 200 hp and a gross weight of 2650 lb. Changes from the PA-28-200 Arrow include a five inch fuselage extension, increased wing span, and larger horizontal tail. The PA-28R-201 Arrow III has a Lycoming IO-360-C1C6 engine of 200 hp and a gross weight of 2750 lb (1247 kg). The PA-28R-201T Turbo Arrow III has a turbocharged Continental TSIO-360-F or TSIO-360-FB engine of 200 hp and a gross weight of 2900 lb (1315 kg). The PA-28RT-201 Arrow IV has a Lycoming IO-360-C1C6 engine of 200 hp and gross weight of 2750 lb (1247 kg). The PA-28RT-201T Turbo Arrow IV has a turbocharged Continental TSIO-360-FB engine of 200 hp and gross weight of 2900 lb.
