Detailed Description

1975 SIAI-Marchetti SF.260B - N13FD - STANDARD CATEGORY (Not Experimental) ' Western Skyways Engine ~310 SMOH ' Full Mission Suite + Smoke ' Owner-Flown, Never Abused ' $199,000

A STANDARD-CATEGORY SIAI-Marchetti SF.260B - Not Experimental - from the fleet that pioneered the civilian air-combat experience. N13FD, s/n 10-09, is a genuine piece of that operation, and she's offered honestly.

WHY SHE'S AVAILABLE. Nothing is wrong with this airplane. She has been hangared at Chino and out of annual since September 2020 due to Covid. She is a certified aircraft that needs a return-to-service annual, an ADS-B Out installation, and transponder/pitot-static recertification to fly again. After a sit of this length I'd want a borescope and oil analysis before first flight, and I welcome both, along with a full pre-buy by your own A&P/IA. A ferry permit to your own shop is also available - we did exactly that with a sister ship and it's flying today.

HOW SHE WAS FLOWN - on the SF.260, this is what matters. These were professional guest-experience aircraft, not unrestricted combat or competition aerobatic airplanes. Sorties were flown to a deliberately conservative profile, smoothly and typically to a maximum of 4.4Gs, by mature professional pilots. Owner flown missions for the last ten years. She was maintained on a commercial operator's schedule by A&P/IAs who knew the type as well as anyone in the country, and she was well maintained.

THE AIRPLANE. FAA standard airworthiness certificate, Normal/Utility/Aerobatic - rare among U.S. SF.260s, and a real advantage over the experimental-exhibition examples that make up most of the U.S. fleet. Aerobatic to +6/-3 G and a genuine IFR cross-country traveler at about 170 knots with 500+ nm legs. Stelio Frati's masterpiece: all-metal, flush-riveted, retractable gear, wingtip tanks, sliding bubble canopy. Air forces worldwide used the type to screen pilots bound for jet fighters. She looks, sounds and flies like a miniature P-51 fighter.

ENGINE & PROP. Lycoming 260 hp, overhauled by Western Skyways - approximately 350 hours since major overhaul. Hartzell 2-Blade Aluminum Propeller installed.

MISSION EQUIPMENT INSTALLED. Cockpit gunsight and air-combat simulation system; three HD cameras with an electronic switcher for in-flight edit-to-SD; Panasonic recorder; smoke system. Wing hard-points for auxiliary fuel, storage pods, and external stores (racks sold separately).

MATCHED PAIR AVAILABLE. Her sister ship, SF.260C N751M, is also for sale - two standard-category, mission-equipped SF.260s. Buy one, or buy the pair.
