Turbine Helicopter Hughes Helicopter Information
The Hughes 300C has the capacity for one crew member and two passengers. The empty weight is 1100 lb (499 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 2050 lb (930 kg). The cruise speed is 86 knots (99 mph, 159 km/h) and the maximum speed is 95 knots (109 mph, 176 km/h). The rate of climb is 750 ft/min (3.82 m/s).
Variant models include the 269C Model 300C, 300CQ, 300CB, and 300CBi. Distinctive characteristics of all the Hughes 269 variants are the fully articulated, counter-clockwise rotating, three-bladed main rotor, and a two-bladed tail rotor. The 269 has shock absorber-dampened, skid-type landing gear. The helicopter's flight controls are directly linked to the control surfaces so there are no hydraulics in the 269. There are usually two sets of controls.
Powered by a 190 hp Lycoming HIO-360-D1A, the Schweizer 300C has a lager diameter main rotor. The engine and larger rotor gave it a 45% performance increase over previous 269 models. The 269C was marketed by both Hughes and Schweizer as the Model 300C.
The Hughes aircraft is also similar in make to the McDonnell Douglas line of 369 aircraft.
