The MD 520N version is based on the 500E. A controllable thruster was added to the end of the tail boom to use for yaw control. The empty weight of the aircraft is 1,636 lbs (742 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 3,350 lbs (1,520 kg). The cruise speed is 135 kts (155 mph, 250 km/h) and the maximum speed is 152 kts (175 mph, 282 km/h). The 520N is powered by an Allison 250-C20R turboshaft engine. A stretched, eight seat model of the 520N is the MD 600N. The empty weight of the 600N is 2,100 lbs (952 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 4,100 lbs (1,860 kg). The cruise speed is 135 kts (155 mph, 250 km/h) and the maximum speed is 152 kts (175 mph, 282 km/h). It is powered by an Allison 250-C47 turboshaft engine.
