The Diamond DA20 features a bubble canopy, small windows that can be opened during flight or on ground, a composite construction, control sticks, a single fuel tank, low mounted wings, a castering nosewheel, and a T-tail. The airframe is made up of carbon fiber reinforced plastic and glass. The later models are offered with the option of using a Garmin 500 glass cockpit.
Other variations include the DV20 A-1 Katana, DA20 A-1 Katana, Da20-100 Katana 100, DA20 C-1 Katana Eclipse, DA20 C-1 Evolution, DA20 C-1 Eclipse, and the DA20 C-1 Falcon. The USAF uses the Falcon for primary flight instruction.
