Grumman HU-16B Aircraft Information
Utilized by the US Air Force, US Navy, and the US Coast Guard as a search and rescue and combat search and rescue aircraft, the Grumman HU-16 Albatross is a large twin radial engine, amphibious flying boat. The Albatross has the capacity for four to six crew members and ten passengers. The empty weight is 22,883 lb (10,401 kg) and the maximum takeoff weight is 37,500 lb (17,045 kg). The cruise speed is 108 knots (124 mph, 200 km/h), stall speed is 64 knots (74 mph, 119 km/h), and the maximum speed is 205 knots (236 mph, 380 km/h). 466 aircraft were built from 1949 to 1961.
