Maule M-4 Aircraft Information
The Maule M-4 series features four-seat, high-wing American monoplanes. The steel-tube structure has fabric covered wings with a cantilever tailplane that has a single fin and rudder. The landing gear has a fixed tailwheel. The prototype was designated the Bee Dee and used a nose mounted Continental O-300 engine. The cabin is enclosed with side-by-side seating.
The variations of the Maule M-4 series are: Bee Dee (prototype), M-4 Jetasen (production version of prototype), M-4C Jetasen (fitted with a cargo door), M-4S (upgraded avionics), M-4T (dual-control trainer, two-seat model, no rear door), M-4c_180 Astro Rocket (fitted with a Franklin 6A-335-1A engine), M-4-210 Rocket (fitted with a Continental IO-360-A engine), M-4-210C Rocket (M-4-210 model with a cargo door), M-4-220C Strata Rocket (M-4C fitted with a Franklin 6A-350-C1 engine), M-4-220S (M-4S fitted with a Franklin 6A-350-C1 engine), and the Mexican M-1 Cuauhtemoc (fitted with a Lycoming O-360 engine).
The STOL (short takeoff and landing) variant is the Maule M-5 series.
