Piper Warrior Series Aircraft Information
The Piper Warrior is a member of the Piper Cherokee family of light aircraft designed for air taxi, flight training, and personal use and is built by Piper Aircraft. The Warrior is all-metal, unpressurized, single-engine, piston-powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. The aircraft has a single door on the co-pilot side, which is entered by stepping on the wing. Cruise speed is 108 knots (124 mph, 200 km/h), stall speed is 47 knots (54 mph, 87 km/h), and maximum speed is 123 knots (142 mph, 230 km/h). The aircraft has been popular with private owners and flying clubs.
Variants of the Piper Warrior include the PA-28-151 Piper Warrior model, PA-28-161 Piper Warrior II, and PA-28-161 Piper Warrior III. In 1974, Piper reintroduced the Cherokee 150 renaming it the Cherokee Warrior (PA-28-151) and giving it the Piper Archer's stretched body and a new, semi-tapered wing. The Cherokee Warrior is powered by a Lycoming O-320-E3C engine of 150 horsepower and has a gross weight of 2325 lb (1055 kg). The Warrior was upgraded in 1978 to a 160 horsepower PA-28-161 and its name was changed to the Cherokee Warrior II. The Warrior II is powered by a Lycoming O-320-D3G or O-320-D2A engine of 160 horsepower and has a gross weight of 2325 lb (1055 kg). Models of the Warrior II manufactured after July 1982 incorporate a gross weight increase to 2440 lb. The Warrior III was certified in 1994 and powered by a Lycoming O-320-D3G engine of 160 horsepower.
