Kitplane pioneer Lancair International was purchased in 2017 by the Huffstutler family, founders of aircraft modification pioneer Sierra Industries. Lancair International ,LLC was created and operations were relocated to Uvalde, Texas. The new company, Lancair International LLC, supports the 320/360, IV, IV-P, ES and Legacy models as well as continuing development of upgrades and new aircraft models, including the 4-seat Mako and 2-seat Barracuda. The company's founder, Lance Neibauer, had previously sold the company in 2003 to Joseph C. Bartels, the first of its subsequent owners. The Huffstutler acquisition in 2017 included branding, intellectual property and parts and support for all Lancair aircraft models, except for the most recently introduced model, the Lancair Evolution. Development of the Evolution models is now supported by a separate company, Evolution Aircraft, based in Redmond, Oregon.
